If you resell virtual events, you know the strange paradox of the job. You can tell a single organiser exactly how their event performed — who registered, who showed up, what they downloaded. But ask "how is my whole business doing?" and the answer is usually a shrug, a spreadsheet, and a late-night stitching numbers together by hand.
That changes today. We're shipping the Reseller Portfolio & Benchmark report in Virtrio — a single screen that turns your entire book of business into something you can actually steer.
Why event-by-event reporting holds resellers back
Handing an organiser a registration list is table stakes. But resellers don't run an event — they run dozens, sometimes hundreds, across different clients, industries, and seasons. At that scale, the per-event view becomes a liability:
- You can't see which events are quietly underperforming until a client churns.
- You can't coach an organiser, because you have no reference for what "good" looks like for an event their size.
- You can't upsell sponsorship packages, because you can't prove the revenue your events generate.
- And you can't answer the question every reseller eventually gets from leadership: "How are we trending?"
The data to answer all of this already lives inside Virtrio. It was just trapped at the event level. The Portfolio report sets it free.
Your whole portfolio, on one screen
Open the Portfolio tab in your reseller dashboard, and you get a sortable grid — one row per event — surfacing the metrics that actually drive decisions:
- Attendance — total registrations per event.
- Average engagement score — derived from each event's own scoring profile, so it respects how that event defined engagement.
- Sponsor count and revenue — pulled from your exhibitor and sponsorship-tier data, including any per-booth value overrides.
- Period-over-period trend — at a glance, is this event up or down versus the last one?
Above the grid sit KPI tiles for your totals — events, attendance, sponsors, sponsor revenue, average engagement — plus a sparkline that plots attendance over time so you can see your trajectory. Sort by revenue to find your most commercially valuable events. Sort by engagement to find the ones worth replicating. Export to CSV when finance comes knocking.
It's the difference between owning a portfolio and just owning a pile of events.
The part that changes the conversation: virtual event benchmarking
Knowing your own numbers is useful. Knowing how they stack up against everyone else's is transformative.
Flip on Compare to Benchmark, and every event is measured against an anonymised platform median for events of a similar size — bucketed into bands (<100, 100–500, 500–2,000, 2,000+ attendees). Suddenly "412 attendees" isn't just a number; it's "+18% above the median for your size band." A middling engagement score becomes a concrete coaching opportunity. A strong sponsor-revenue event becomes a case study you can take to your next pitch.
This is external context you can't generate on your own, no matter how good your spreadsheets are — because you only have your data. Virtrio has the whole platform's.
Anonymised by design, not by promise
Whenever you put "benchmark" next to "platform-wide data," the right instinct is to ask: whose data, exactly? We built the benchmark so that question never has an uncomfortable answer:
- Only aggregated medians are ever exposed. No other reseller's events, names, or figures are visible — or even derivable.
- Like-for-like comparisons only. You're compared within your size band, never against a 50-person webinar masquerading as a 5,000-person conference.
- A minimum-sample-size gate. If a size band doesn't contain enough events to be statistically anonymous, the report hides it rather than risk revealing an individual event. Anonymity isn't a policy we promise — it's a rule the code enforces.
The benchmark is available as a premium capability, so when it isn't enabled for an account, the report shows a clean upgrade prompt instead of a broken screen.
Built to be fast, fair, and safe
A few engineering choices are worth calling out, because they're what make the report trustworthy in production:
It's strictly tenant-scoped. The portfolio only ever returns events belonging to your reseller account. Data never crosses tenant boundaries — enforced at the system layer, not just hoped for.
It's fair across different scoring setups. Different events configure engagement differently. So while the grid shows each event's weighted engagement score, the benchmark compares engagement intensity — interactions per attendee — which remains consistent regardless of how an event defines its scoring. You're never penalised for comparing apples to oranges.
It's fast. Portfolio aggregates and the heavier platform-wide benchmark are both cached, so the numbers stay snappy even as your event count and underlying interaction data grow.
It works out of the box. No configuration ritual, no setup wizard. It reads the data Virtrio already captures and renders on first load, with graceful zero-states instead of error screens for accounts just getting started.
From data you have to decisions you make
The philosophy behind Virtrio's differentiated reports is simple: analytics tell you what happened; these reports tell you what to do about it. The Portfolio & Benchmark is the clearest expression of that idea for resellers.
It answers the questions that actually keep you up at night. Which clients should I invest more in? Which organisers need coaching? Where is my sponsorship revenue concentrated? Am I growing — and how do I compare to the field?
Open the Portfolio tab. Sort by whatever matters most this quarter. Toggle the benchmark. And for the first time, see your entire events business the way you've always needed to: as one picture, in context, in seconds.
The Reseller Portfolio & Benchmark report is available now in your Virtrio reseller dashboard.
